Insurance and Financial Policies
Insurance Payment: Dr. Tharp participates with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Oscar insurances to offer patients treatment. BCBS is available to Texas patients only. Verification of benefits must be completed prior to scheduling initial intake. If there is a change in the insurance plan, please notify our office immediately. If there are copays of a full deductible, payment is expected at the time of service.

Additional services not covered by insurance : Insurance companies do not reimburse for some services. If a patient requests a service that is not covered by insurance, there will be a charge of $30 per 10-minute interval to complete this request if completed outside of a regularly scheduled appointment time. Some examples of patient requests that will result in additional charges include:
-
Preparation of reports for other providers or organizations.
-
Telephone calls lasting more than 5 minutes.

No-Show/Late-Cancel Fees: These fees are not reimbursed by insurance companies and are the personal financial responsibility of the patient. These fees apply to all patients, whether they are in-network or out-of-network for their insurance. Fees can be waived for extenuating circumstances, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
-
A no-show (failure to show to a scheduled appointment) or late cancellation (failure to cancel an appointment within 1 business day) of a new intake/ psychotherapy session is assessed a fee of $200.
-
A no-show/late cancellation of a follow-up appointment will be assessed a fee of $100.

Cash Pay/Uninsured/Out of Network Payment: Payment in full is due at time of service. We are able to provide you with a “superbill” to submit to your insurance. Because filing insurance claims can be a frustrating process, we have registered with Reimbursify to make it quick & easy to file claims, track submissions and get paid. Contact your insurance for specific questions related to your out-of-network benefits.

Notice to clients and prospective clients:

Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
-
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy and psychiatric services.
-
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.
-
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
-
For questions or more information about your rights to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Credit Card Authorization: All patients are required to provide us with a credit card number which we leave on file. Your credit card is used to secure payment for unpaid balances for over 30 days. The practice retains the right to charge your credit card automatically if any of the above fees apply.
